Star Wars Episode VIII to See Kylo Ren With His Own TIE Fighter

Fans may finally get to see Kylo Ren's own devolution towards becoming more like his grandfather Darth Vader in Star Wars Episode VIII.

A new report from Making Star Wars has hinted that Kylo Ren will be piloting his own TIE Fighter in an attempt to halt the Resistance. According to the reportedly credible source, this will be a personal ship to Kylo Ren. However, it will retain remnants of the First Order TIE Advanced.

Design-wise, the TIE fighter will be a little different than the one used when Anakin was attacking the Death Star trench. Instead, the ship may have a more modern appeal, like the TIE Striker seen in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

One other possible inspiration for the design is the TIE Fighter designs conceptualized for Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens. Though these models did not make it to the final cut of the film, their more modern looks may actually serve as an improvement from the original, while also retaining the familiar design.

With that personal ship also comes a personal costume. Kylo Ren may be getting ready to fill in the shoes of the Sith Lord—or rather, the cape of Darth Vader, as his costume will supposedly sport a cape when he appears in Star Wars Episode VIII.

There are no official art or sneak peeks yet of what Kylo Ren's TIE fighter will be like. However, previous toy reveals that may clue fans in on the design of the new ship. Perhaps we may get to see the design in better detail, albeit a blocky one, once the First Order TIE Bombers are revealed in their respective LEGO sets on the next Force Friday.

Star Wars Episode VIII is set for theaters on Dec. 15 later this year.
