Adam Driver Talks About Kylo Ren and Teases Star Wars: Episode 8

Though Star Wars: Force Awakens was a great film that revived the Star Wars cinematic universe, the film also had its weak points. One of these was the personality and behavior of Force Awaken's Darth Vader-equivalent, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). Hot headed and rash, Kylo Ren is often times compared to an emo goth kid – a petty runt fueled by rage. Now, as the Force Awakens cast move forward with the film's sequel, Star Wars: Episode VIII, Driver reveals that his charcter is going to be even more grounded in the upcoming Star Wars film installment.

Speaking in an interview with Larry King on Larry King Now, Driver gives fans a slight preview of what to expect from him and his character Kylo Ren in Star Wars: Episode VIII. From the looks of it, it seems like Star Wars fans are going to get an even more developed Kylo Ren in the Force Awakens. Driver also confirms that the film will just be as socially active and aware as the other film installments in the Star Wars franchise, saying that Rian Johnson's Star Wars Episode VIII will focus on terrorism.

Here is Driver's full answer to Larry King's question about his focus on Kylo Ren in Star Wars: Episode VIII:

"I think maybe this is such a general answer but you know, humanity "Even though it's very much a blockbuster movie, and I'm aware of that, there was no taking that for granted and that we were forced to be general. There was a lot of plot points that we knew were operating in the first one, that we get to explain more in the second one, that kind of make both of them make sense. But they do kind of feel socially active to me. And George Lucas originally — a lot of ‘Star Wars' was in response to Vietnam and a lot of what I remember talking about with J.J. (Abrams) and Rian (Johnson) was this idea of terrorism, and two sides being morally justified to behave however they wanted to to get whatever they thought was absolutely correct."

Given Kylo Ren's immaturity in Force Awakens, it's good to know that Driver's character is being kept grounded and that the actor is going to focus on bringing a better villain to the big screen. At this rate, Star Wars: Episode VIII just might very well end up better than Force Awakens.

Star Wars: Episode VIII premieres on the big screen on Dec. 15 this year.
