J.J. Abrams has given us a look at the main trio of Star Wars Episode IX with his wrap photo, but some fans are left asking, "Where is Rose Tico?" We don't have any official info from Lucasfilm yet, but Making Star Wars may have an idea on what Rose's role will be in the movie.
According to Now This is Podcasting (via Reddit), there hasn't been much detail with Rose, but it's said that she's "very high up in the Resistance." Counting that more than 80 percent of the Resistance was wiped out in The Last Jedi, I'd imagine that there would be a lot of room for Rose to rise up the ranks.
If you've paid any attention to all the haters of The Last Jedi, you'll know that a lot of ‘fans' take issue with the character of Rose. In fact, Kelly Marie Tran got harassed so much online that she ended up deleting her social media accounts.
Personally, I was a fan of Rose. Sure she doesn't have as much nuance as the other characters, but she's really just in the movie to help mold Finn's moral compass. In the beginning of the film he doesn't care for the conflict between the FO and the Resistance, but thanks to Rose he becomes willing to die for the rebels by the end of the film.
With all the fans being so mean to Tran, I just hope that they give us more of Rose in Episode IX. I actually thought that the character was a great addition to the cast, and I'd love to see more of her. Spinoff series on Disney+? Yes, please!
