Star Wars Episode IX Trailer Reportedly Delayed To February 2019

The year is almost over yet fans are still hoping that the Star Wars: Episode IX trailer could finally be released. However, it looks like the wait for the highly anticipated first footage from the upcoming sequel will have to continue until the first quarter of 2019.

The latest report from Express suggests that the teaser is already done. However, the studios are still holding on to it for a later release next year.

"We know that Disney and Lucasfilm have a teaser trailer ready to go which has been delayed until the first quarter of 2019," the report said.

This is certainly disappointing news considering that it spreads the possible release date to over three months. However, there are speculations that the Episode IX trailer will be dropped in February 2019.

Some believe that Disney and Lucasfilm will take advantage of the massive audience pulled by the 2019 Super Bowl, which takes place on February 3, 2019. This isn't really much of a surprise considering that several trailers have been released during the event in the past few years. Nevertheless, fans are hoping that the Episode IX trailer will be unveiled earlier in January.

The long wait is certainly part of Star Wars tradition. The first teaser for Star Wars: The Last Jedi was dropped on April 2017 and the official trailer wasn't released until October of the same year. Hopefully, we'll get an earlier peek at Episode IX next year.

Star Wars: Episode IX is scheduled for release on December 20, 2019.
