Star Wars Episode IX: New Info Suggests Trailer Drops in A Few Weeks

Everyone has been waiting on Lucasfilm to give us the first teaser for Star Wars Episode IX. While a lot have given up hope being sure that it will come during Celebration 2019 in April, some new info suggests that we could be getting a teaser in a few weeks.

According to FanthaTracks:

A major UK cinema chain has received a Digital Cinema Package (DCP) from Disney this morning called TT1-SW9, (Teaser Trailer 1 Star Wars 9). It's encrypted with a KDM (Key Delivery Message) so they can't view the contents until they get the key.

No news on when they'll get the key, but they had the Aladdin trailer DCP for two weeks before it came out on Monday…therefore, Friday might be the day, but that's pure speculation.

We should take this news with a grain of salt for now, but unless Lucasfilm decides to make an official announcement, it's the best we've got.

If we follow the pattern and see that the release of the trailer two weeks after the DCPs is sent, then we could be looking at the official drop of the trailer on March 1. Star Wars Celebration takes place more than a month later on April 11. I think it's likely that we get a very short teaser first in March then they'll reveal a full-on trailer come Celebration 2019.

It's just my guess, but it seems like a logical way to make the releases.

For now, everyone is just waiting on Lucasfilm to finally give us some more previews. After the drought of Star Wars in December, a lot of fans are looking forward to coming back to a galaxy far far away.

Catch Star Wars Episode IX in theaters Dec. 20.
