Lucasfilm has been keeping such a tight hold on Star Wars: Episode IX's secrets, Star Wars fans have had nothing to do but scour the gateways of the internet for rumors, theories, and speculation about the third and final film in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. One of the latest rumors to make its way online focuses on Rey's (Daisy Ridley) broken lightsaber and Kylo Ren's (Adam Driver) busted helmet with leaks claiming that the items will return in Episode IX.

Taking to Reddit, a fan going by the name u/PlanetOfMisfitSoldrs posted a leak claiming that they "work in design" like on "things like posters" and "merchandise boxes" for the Star Wars franchise. According to this individual, Star Wars fans are going to see Rey in a more "knightly" kind of costume, saying that her outfit would really drive home the fact that the Force-sensitive orphan has finally become a Jedi knight.

Not only that, but according to the Redditor, fans are going to see Rey's lightsaber "repaired and modified."

"It is now like Kylo's, unstable and like a claymore," the post reads, referencing to Kylo Ren's crossguard lightsaber which was modified because of the weapon's cracked kyber crystal.

The Redditor also speaks about Kylo Ren's mask in the post, saying that "a special troop of red and black stormtroopers whose helmets are his mask," and that the new Supreme Leader "looks more evil in all these pictures than he ever has" because of "evil yellow eyes."

It's an interesting claim – a crossguard lightsaber for Rey and a yellow-eyed helmet for Kylo Ren.

Still, as exciting as these items might sound, fans ought to be warned to take the report with a grain of salt. It's hard to trust anything on the internet these days, especially if they come from unofficial sources and from boards like Reddit where anyone can claim to be anything, including a Star Wars insider.

Star Wars: Episode IX hits cinemas December 20, 2019.
