Fans are getting excited as days go by especially since J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is only two months away. Not to mention the final trailer that is expected to drop on Monday Night Football. A lot of people are looking forward to another glimpse of the upcoming film. And even the director provided a bit of an insight to the ending.

Since Episode IX will be the movie that concludes that Skywalker Saga, it is expected that Abrams will bring a satisfying ending to the table especially for longtime followers of the franchise.

Speaking with EW for their November issue, Abrams talked about how daunting it is to make a story for endings, and with something as big as this one, I doubt it'd be easy for anyone. "This is about bringing this thing to a close in a way that is emotional and meaningful," says Abrams. He mentioned how he also wanted it to be satisfying for the viewers in a way that he is able to answer queries as much as he can especially for those who have had many questions about the trilogy.

He made it a point that the ending should be connected. So if someone watches all nine movies in the future, they would be able to witness a story that is "cohesive as possible."

Of course, there are multiple things discussed and a handful of endings tested. Abrams even mentioned that George Lucas had his moments where he would see an opportunity that could be tested out in the following projects. Abrams points out that they are aware that this would be the ending of the trilogy, so it's his goal to satisfy. "We went into this thing knowing it has to be an ending. We're not screwing around," Abrams adds.

With all this build-up and anticipation, it is no doubt that fans are ecstatic to see an epic conclusion to the beloved trilogy. It's all in the hands of Abrams, and since he promised that he'll be bringing a cohesive ending, fans expect that their questions about the trilogy are finally going to be answered.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres on December 20, 2019.
