Star Wars Details Ben Solo’s Journey To The Dark Side

Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) might seem like a villain, but like Rey (Daisy Ridley), the estranged son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Leia (the late Carrie Fisher) is considered a lead character in Lucasfilm's Star Wars sequel trilogy.

While Kylo Ren might have seemingly had conflicted feelings about his alignment with the Force in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the character ended up betraying Rey and spiraling towards the Dark Side at the end of the film. Now, as fans continue to wait for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to reveal whether or not Kylo Ren might turn to the Light to be redeemed, a new mini-series from Marvel Comics details Ben Solo's journey to the Dark Side.

Marvel is releasing a brand new Star Wars mini-series (via ComicBook.com) titled Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren and the solicitation for the second issue of the title seems to tease some major revelations for the character.

Not only does the solicitation reveal that the second issue will follow Ben's escape after destroying Luke Skywalker's Jedi school and seemingly killing his master, but it also suggests that the Knights of Ren pose a significant threat to Ben's Jedi Master. The description goes as:

  • With the new Jedi school in ruins and fellow students hot on his trail for the murder of their master, Ben Solo flees to the only friend he has left in the galaxy…a man named Snoke. But Snoke has plans for Ben… and ideas about the Force that are as dangerous as they are intriguing for the troubled young Jedi.
  • If Ben wishes to be truly free…the answers might lie with the dark side. And with the Knights of Ren!
  • But it won't be the first time he's tangled with the Knights. In the past, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker journeys to the Unknown Regions and brings young Ben along for the mission. Can even Luke Skywalker stand against the fabled Knights of Ren?!

Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren is written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Will Sliney. The comic is set to hit shelves in January 2020. It's a great comic for fans who want to learn more about Ben Solo after the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres on December 20, 2019.
