Star Wars Comics Sets Up Epic Battle Between the Knights of Ren and Darth Vader

The Sequel Trilogy of Star Wars introduced the Knights of Ren, a mysterious clan of dark side Force users who were all led by Kylo Ren. Like a lot of things in the Sequel Trilogy movies, the explanation of how the Knights of Ren fit into the lore of Star Wars, left a lot of fans annoyed - more so when the Knights of Ren, as well as Ben Solo, fell in battle during the finale of The Rise of Skywalker. Since the Sequel Trilogy movies have ended, it is up to Star Wars’ other media platforms to explain the gaps about the Knights of Ren - and now, fans are getting another key piece of their story.

(WARNING: Star Wars Comics SPOILERS below!)

This week, “Crimson Reign” was released, it is the latest crossover story event in Marvel’s Star Wars comics line. The previous story arc event "War of the Bounty Hunters" has revealed that the fan-favorite character from Solo: A Star Wars Story, Qi’ra is now the new leader of the Crimson Dawn syndicate after the death of Maul, and took the group in a different direction. Between all of the events of The Empire Strikes Back as well as Return of the Jedi, Qi’ra re-introduced the syndicate Crimson to the Underworld as a shadowy ninja-like cabal, with assassins and spies embedded from the Empire to the Rebellion. In “Crimson Reign” comics, Qi’ra begins to move forward her true goal: freeing the whole galaxy from the rule of the Sith Lord.

To defeat a Sith Lor, Qi’ra knows that she needs a lot of powerful people around her, that’s why she invited some groups into the inner circle of Crimson Dawn - this includes The Knights of Ren. Each of the groups in the cabal has a specific purpose in Qira’s plan: the task of The Knights of Ren is sneaking into the castle of Darth Vader, to pull a heist of Sith artifact that will make them “Legends.”

Although we don’t have the full details on what the Knights of Ren stole from Darth Vader’s castle, we do know that the group will emerge from this Star Wars timeline with greater knowledge and power of both Jedi and Sith artifacts of power - some of the secrets stemming all the way back to the High Republic.
