Star Wars Battlefront 2 Will Be DICE’s Focus

DICE and EA's Star Wars Battlefront may have had quite the run as one of the most ambitious Star Wars games to date. However, the developers are ready to turn the page and even close the book, as it looks ahead for bigger dreams in the sequel.

After all the many Echo Base invasions, victories in the A-Wing fighter cockpit, and heroics against the Stormtroopers, there's a new focus for the developer in terms of its next project.

In the official Star Wars Battlefront website, the developer announced that the January patch has been one of the most important in addressing player concerns. But following that, there will be no more content, at least for that game.

"While no future Skirmish content is planned, DICE isn't done with Star Wars—the team has shifted its focus to creating the next great Star Wars game, a collaborative effort between three world-class studios: DICE, Criterion and Motive. We look forward to sharing more with you later this year and thank you for being such a tremendous support of our work in a galaxy far, far away."

This announcement is just one of many related to the anticipated Star Wars Battlefront 2. Just recently the developer also confirmed at an earnings call (via GameSpot) that the sequel is already heading to retailers this holiday season.

What's more, instead of going with the multiplayer only approach from the first title, the sequel will have a proper story mode. if that's not enough, the game will be even bigger than the original, one that will even include multiple Star Wars eras.

Considering that two movies have already been released since the game, its highly possible that we can expect both Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Rogue One to somehow be in the sequel.
