Rosario Dawson was recently revealed to be cast in the second season of Star Wars: The Mandalorian to play the live-action version of Ahsoka Tano. Though most fans were happy about the casting, some expected it to be played by Ashley Eckstein, who voiced the character in the Clone Wars and Rebels series. Now, Eckstein shares his thoughts about the matter.

Eckstein has previously addressed the casting in an Instagram post. But she made a recent appearance on the ComicBook Nation podcast to talk about her new book, which eventually led to talking about where her character is heading next. "I shared on Instagram I truly don't know anything about the Mandalorian so it's something I really can't speak to," Eckstein said. "So I mean what you know is what I know."

That said, Eckstein noted that Ahsoka will always be "bigger" than just her and that she has always been "very outspoken" about the fact that she is only one of the many people who bring Ahsoka to life. "It started with George [Lucas] and Dave Filoni creating Ahsoka," she added. "Fortunately, I was able to help originate her character, I was allowed to bring my heart and soul and personality and wisdom to this character," along with Joel Aron, Kevin Kiner, and the animators.

"Ahsoka's always been bigger than just me," Eckstein reiterated. "She is literally a part of my heart and soul. I care about her so deeply that I would never want anything bad surrounding Ahsoka."

She says she only wants what's good for the character and since Ahsoka is someone who brings "so much hope and so much light" to everyone, Eckstein will "always be a cheerleader for that."

What are your thoughts on Eckstein's comments? Do you think Dawson is a good choice for Ahsoka? Tell us in the comments below!
