Star Wars: Andor Star Diego Luna Hints Familiar Faces Returning

One of the Star Wars series that is currently in the works right now is Andor, a prequel to Rogue One, which focuses on rebel spy Cassian Andor during the formative years of the Rebellion. The series has been filming since late last year and, now, its star has good news for the fans who have been waiting to see it.

Speaking recently to Deadline, Andor star Diego Luna has confirmed that filming for the 12-episode series has already finished. In addition, he gave a hint on what we could expect when we watch the series next year.

"You'll definitely see familiar faces," Luna said. "I can tell you about this project like no other because I can't spoil the ending if you've seen [Stars Wars: Rogue One] already. No matter what I say, I can't ruin the ending."

He also shared his experience filming the series during the pandemic, "To be honest, it's been such a blessing to do this job and to do it under these circumstances. I had the chance to work with a team that I couldn't be more proud of and admire more. It's a hard-core moment to be out there shooting, and we were really lucky. We're done with the shooting now and getting it ready for audiences to see it. While I can't say much, what I can tell you is that the experience was literally a transformation for me. It's something that I really wanted to do and that I thought I was not going to be able to do. I'm more than happy."

Since the series is set years before the events of Rogue One, we can perhaps assume that some of the characters in the film will show up. So far, Mon Mothma has been confirmed to make an appearance as well as Forest Whitaker's Saw Gerrera, who was confirmed by series co-star Stellan Skarsgard in an interview months ago. Maybe we could see Jyn Erso pop up for a cameo. There's also a possibility that characters like Bodhi Rook and Orson Krennic will also make an appearance.

Given that the series is going to be set several years before Episode IV, there are a lot of characters who were introduced before that could show up. Don't be surprised if we will see someone from Star Wars: Rebels make their live-action appearance in the series since they are both in the same timeline.

Andor is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2022.
