Star Wars And Marvel Fans Are Waging War On Reddit

Star Wars and Marvel might occupy very different universes and genres, but it looks like there's a lot of tension between the fanbase of the galaxy far, far away and the fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Reddit.

The Star Wars Prequel Memes SubReddit just started a war with Marvel fans after posting a meme that lambasted the MCU for its lack of Oscar Awards. It's a pretty low blow – one strong enough to start a war with the MCU SubReddit.

Posting on its thread, a Star Wars fan decided to share a meme making fun of Marvel for having less Oscar Awards than Suicide Squad. Despite all the poor reviews that followed the film's release, the 2016 DC Extended Universe spinoff managed to bag itself an Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling – a surprising little win for the burgeoning comic book movie franchise.

Unfortunately, while the MCU has many well-received and critically-acclaimed entries, the franchise has yet to receive any recognition from the Oscars, making the meme a harsh jab at the Marvel fandom. Now, Star Wars Prequel Memes and the MCU Subreddit are in the middle of a meme war. While it all seemed to have started in good fun, it looks like fans are starting to take the fight a whole lot seriously.

Of course, outsiders might enjoy all the heated drama between the two groups – this fight makes for pretty good memes. It's hard not to laugh while scrolling through both camps and seeing all the sick burns going around. We just hope the fire dies out soon.

Marvel's most highly-anticipated film of 2019, Avengers 4, premieres May 3 next year.
