Star Wars Adds First Female Sith Lord to New Canon

The new Star Wars canon has been a mixed bag to some fans, as it often feels like a waiting game to see who else pops up and officially becomes "real." This has happened numerous times over the years, thanks to the new Marvel deal that lets the publisher make comics that are officially canon. Luckily, the latest issue of Darth Vader actually introduced us to something new and cool.

According to Screen Rant, Darth Vader #22 introduces fans to the first female Sith Lord. While there have been female Sith in the past, some of whom were even worthy of the Darth mantle, none of them have ever been Sith Lords, or should we say Sith Ladies? Either way, that all changes in this issue, thanks to the introduction of Lady Shaa.

In flashbacks told by Lord Momin, he revealed that Shaa rescued him from a prison after hearing of his evil actions and made him her apprentice. Momin took offense to when he was called an apprentice but he soon had the bitter taste of humility upon training with Shaa.

Momin didn't exactly enjoy the training he had under Shaa but he was looking forward to killing her once he was powerful enough. It does seem to be a Sith tradition to kill your master once you've learned everything from them, at least when it comes to previous stories. Momin does just that and eventually kills Shaa.

While the outcome was inevitable, it is pretty cool seeing a female Sith Lord (Sith Lady?) for the first time. If you need a reason to read these Star Wars comics, here's a big one for you.
