Star Wars Actor Domhnall Gleeson Wishes The Rise of Skywalker Let Hux Live Longer

General Hux might have been in all of Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy entries, however, the character didn't last that long in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

After fans discover that Hux was actually assisting the Resistance in Episode IX, the film had the First Order general killed a few scenes later.

Speaking in an interview with Indie Wire, General Hux star Domnhall Gleeson opens up about his character's fate, admitting that it would have been nice if The Rise of Skywalker had allowed the General to stay alive a little bit longer.

"It would've been nice to stick around a little bit longer, for sure," Gleeson told the entertainment news outlet, "It would've been nice to see the spy thing play out a little bit, but J.J. knows what he's doing, and I heard a kind of gasp in the cinema when it happened, so I guess he was right."

Admittedly, it would have been interesting to see Hux stay on as a mole for the Resistance. How exactly would Hux go on tricking the First Order into thinking that he was on their side? Perhaps the movie could have even given the General a redemption arc of his own.

It's such a shame that Hux was killed so easily in Episode IX. The character was never truly given any justice in the sequel trilogy. In Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Hux was always just a cog in the machine of the First Order. It's such a shame that Episode IX didn't give more depth to the character.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is currently available on Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD.
