Star Wars: The Acolyte Taps The Witcher and Pachinko Directors to Helm Episodes

Production is currently underway for the upcoming Star Wars series The Acolyte. While most of the details are being kept under wraps, it is expected to be set during the High Republic era which is around 100 years before the events of the prequel trilogy.

For the past couple of months, we've been hearing some exciting details about the project which suggests that this could be the most unique series in the Star Wars franchise to date with the cast that they assembled and a story that is something that we've never seen before in the galaxy far, far away.

Now, we have another interesting update about the series as Discussing Film has reported that Kogonada (Pachinko, After Yang) and Alex Garcia Lopez (The Witcher, Daredevil) are joining the directing team of The Acolyte as they set to helm episodes together with showrunner Leslye Headland.

It is certainly exciting to hear these two talented filmmakers become part of the show's directing team since they have proven in their previous works that they have wonderful visions as directors and it is a promising sign regarding its filmmaking approach as they're currently in production.

The cast includes Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Jodie Turner-Smith, Manny Jacinto, Charlie Barnett, Dafne Keen, Carrie-Anne Moss, Dean-Charles Chapman, Margarita Levieva, and Rebecca Henderson.

Headland created the series and serves as the showrunner, executive producer, and director of the pilot episode. Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef will also serve as executive producers while Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson are producing.
