Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Could Depict Spock's First Pon Farr

There are several reasons why Trekkies are excited about Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. After all, the new series is going to be a prequel that will follow the lives of Captain Christopher Pike, Number One, and Ensign Spock. With that in mind, some fans are already wondering if this means the show could depict Spock's first bout of pon farr and it sounds like Ethan Peck may be up to the idea.

Pon farr is the Vulcan male's biological mating period when they get, er, rowdy. This was first depicted in the original series episode Amok Time which took place in 2267. Since Vulcans go into pon farr every seven years, there's a huge chance it could happen to Spock yet again in Strange New Worlds as the series is expected to take place a few years before Amok Time. Not surprisingly, Peck agrees that the show may tackle it.

"I really have no idea, but I would think it's a strong possibility," Peck said to Variety.

We might not be too sure just yet but there is little doubt that many fans are already hoping for this event. In the meantime, Peck is just happy to be part of Strange New Worlds so he can continue playing the character that was famously portrayed by Leonard Nimoy.

"It'll be a whole new challenge for me as an actor portraying Spock because you've had this transformation," Peck said. "I can't wait to see what we explore."

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
