Star Trek: Patrick Stewart Explains Why Q Keeps Tormenting Jean-Luc Picard

We already know that Q will be back in Star Trek: Picard Season 2 next month and it looks like it won't be a happy reunion between him and Jean-Luc Picard. But why does John de Lancie's character love tormenting Jean-Luc so much? Patrick Stewart knows the answer and he confirms that it has a lot to do with their own similarities!

The last we saw Q, the strange entity had an obvious obsession for Picard. So it's no surprise that his return in Star Trek: Picard Season 2, as seen in the trailer, features another "game" for the former Enterprise captain. So why is Q so eager to keep tormenting Picard even after all this time? Patrick Stewart explained to Screenrant that Q might actually see his own similarities to Picard.

"I've always felt that the reason for [Q tormenting Picard] is that Q recognizes something of himself in Jean-Luc. He admired that something else," Stewart said. He then pointed out that the series will show a different side of the character.

"So now, as you will see in season 2, there are changes in Q's nature. He's not the Q that we knew from the days of Encounter at Farpoint," Stewart stated.

Q might be very different from Picard but they do have a few things in common as well. In addition to that, it would be a great pleasure to see John de Lancie and Patrick Stewart reunited in the series. With that in mind, we can't wait to see what will happen in Star Trek: Picard Season 3.

The second season of Star Trek: Picard will consist of 10 new episodes and will bring back Alison Pill, Isa Briones, Evan Evagora, Michelle Hurd, Santiago Cabrera, Jeri Ryan, Orla Brady, and Brent Spiner. The series will air on Paramount+ on March 3, 2022.
