Doctor Strange 2: Patrick Stewart Addresses Professor X's Return in MCU Sequel

The release of the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer during Super Bowl LVI certainly had fans having a meltdown at all the awesome teases contained in just over two minutes of new footage. However, the most amazing one would be a brief voiceover that sounded a lot like Charles Xavier. So does this mean Professor X is ready for his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut? Patrick Stewart has finally addressed the speculations about his involvement in the upcoming MCU sequel!

In the Doctor Strange 2 trailer, the Sorcerer Supreme is brought to a mysterious building and presented to a group of people who were not shown. We do hear one of them addressing Strange's presence, saying that they "should tell him the truth." It's only one line but fans are convinced that the speaker is Professor X because of the way he sounds like Patrick Stewart. Listen in at the 1:17 mark in the trailer below.

So is it finally time for Professor X to appear in the MCU? Stewart recently spoke to ComicBook.com where he was asked if he was the one speaking in the trailer. Not surprisingly, the X-Men star decided to play coy, claiming that a lot of people try to sound like him.

“You know, people have been imitating my voice ever since I came on the stage 60 years ago. So, I can’t be held responsible for that,” Stewart said.

Interestingly, Stewart was more open when talking about his involvement in Doctor Strange 2 in a separate interview.

“I don't look at a lot of social media and that's mostly a time issue, but I must say, before bedtime on Sunday evening I had plenty of communications, friends and some people I hardly knew at all making reference to 'ah! Is that you?.' Well, of course, you know I was just at home waiting to watch football so how could it have possibly been me? We'll have to wait and see,” he said.

We're loving how Stewart is being coy about the whole thing since it has us believing that there is something to look forward to in Doctor Strange 2. Hopefully, we'll get to find out very soon.

For now, Patrick Stewart is not yet confirmed to be in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In the meantime, fans will get to see him as Jean-Luc Picard in Star Trek: Picard Season 2, which premieres on Paramount+ on March 3, 2022.
