Star Trek Icon William Shatner Bashes Police for Arresting Woman Dressed as Stormtrooper

Earlier this week Star Wars fans had celebrated Star Wars Day on May the fourth, but too bad for one woman in Canada though, because she ended up being arrested by police for walking around in stormtrooper armor. The exchange got so bad that the police were pointing their guns at her and actually hurt her when they took her down. You know who's not having it though? Captain James T. Kirk of the starship Enterprise.

The video of the woman being taken down had gone viral online, and Trek icon William Shatner had decided to share this message to his 2.5 million followers:

For now there seems to be mixed feelings online. If anything, some are blaming the cosplayer for walking around with a toy gun; others are blaming the person who called 911 in the first place, saying that the police were just doing their job. Others say that the girl was actually working for a Star Wars-themed business nearby and she was told to wear it for promotion.

If one thing's for sure though, that girl won't be cosplaying as a stormtrooper anytime soon. I can only imagine the trauma she had to go through having actual guns pointed at her for trying to have fun on Star Wars Day. Hopefully by now people will be able to tell the difference between a cosplayer and someone planning to do a mass shooting.
