Star Trek: Discovery’s Michael Burnham Hints At A “Juicy” Spock Story

Spock is making his way to the second season of CBS All Access' popular Star Trek: Discovery and it looks like Sonequa Martin-Green can't wait to introduce the show's take on the iconic half-human, half-Vulcan member of the Enterprise.

Martin-Green recently attended a panel at this year's Expo Canada, and during her discussion with fans (via ComicBook.com), the actress who plays Michael Burnham on Discovery decided to talk about her character's connection to Spock and to Sarek in the series. For those who have yet to see Discovery, Burnham serves as Spock's foster sister, the adopted child of Sarek and Amanda in new Star Trek lore.

"It's incredible. I just think it's genius to have us be set where we are, 10 years before TOS and to have Burnham be connected to that institution that is the family of Sarek and Amanda and Spock. I just am so appreciative of it. It's so full. It's so full, it's wrought with everything. And then I end up being two degrees separated from Captain Pike and that's really interesting too, to be able to have that sort of connection to the canon. I really loved that because one of the things we are doing in our iteration, on Star Trek: Discovery, is being our own thing, but also keeping that connection with us in the canon and having that connective tissue. So, I really appreciate it, and it is juicy!"

Martin-Green seems especially excited to have Spock in the series. Together with Doug Jones, the actor who plays Saru, Martin-Green geeks out over the look of Discovery's Spock. She also gushes about how Ethan Peck turns out to be the perfect new Spock for the show. Not only does the actor ready to "confront the challenge in the service of protecting and expanding in Spock's legacy," but he also "effortlessly embodies Spock's greatest qualities."

Given the actress' description of Ethan Peck's version of Spock, we definitely can't wait and see the second season of Star Trek: Discovery.

How about you? Are you excited to see whether Peck serves as a good Spock, enough to please the legendary Leonard Nimoy and the sterling Zachary Quinto? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 is set to premiere on CBS sometime early 2019.
