Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 Confirms The Federation Added 2 New Members

The latest episode of Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 was truly a victory for the crew as they finally reunited with the rest of the Federation. However, it looks like there were huge surprises for two particular crew members as they realized that their homeworlds are now members of the Federation.

In Die Trying, Saru discovered that the planet he once left has become a member of the Federation after all these years. Saru had originally left Kaminar to serve in Starfleet and jump into the future. Interestingly, Admiral Vance informed Saru that Kaminar is now with the Federation although they only had limited contact with the planet due to the shortage of dilithium for warp travel.

Amazingly, Nhan was in for a similar surprise in the episode. When Michael Burnham and the Discovery crew are sent to retrieve seed archives from the USS Tikov, it is revealed that the ship was being cared for by the Barzan. After the archives are retrieved, Nhan decides to stay with the Tikov so she could bring the dead people onboard back to Barzan II so they could get a proper burial.

For now, it is unclear whether we will see more of these new members of the Federation considering that warp travel is not yet possible. Nevertheless, we're hoping to learn more about Saru and Nhan's homeworlds in the future.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 Episode 5 is now available for streaming on CBS All Access.
