Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 Premiere Revealed In Brand New Poster

Star Trek fans might have had to wait a while, but it looks like CBS All Access finally has revealed the premiere date of the second season of the popular series, Star Trek: Discovery.

Releasing a brand new poster this morning, the streaming service confirmed what fans had long suspected – that Star Trek: Discovery would be returning with its second season sometime in January next year.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the news broke out a few days ahead of Star Trek: Discovery's own panel at this year's New York Comic-Con and while the poster doesn't give the exact premiere date of the new season of the series, it does hint at what's to come.

Featuring red flashes of light, the poster seems to hint at the seven mysterious signals linked to Spock (played by Ethan Peck in the series) that were suggested in Discovery's season 2 Comic-Con trailer.

There was a whole lot of hype and excitement when word came out that season 2 of Discovery would bring Spock back to the small screen. Originally played by Leonard Nimoy and then by Zachary Quinto, Spock was an iconic Star Trek character. Serving aboard the USS Enterprise as a science officer and first officer, the half-human, half-Vulcan Spock is Captain James T. Kirk's most trusted friend.

Now appearing in Discovery, Spock will join his foster sister, Michael Burnham (Sonequa-Martin Green), a character that's had a tremendously difficult arc in the first season of Discovery. It's definitely going to be an interesting season for Discovery, and we can't wait for it to drop.

Star Trek: Discovery season 2 premieres sometime January 2019.
