Stan Lee's Daughter Is Suing His Former Company Over Intellectual Properties

It has been almost a year since the unfortunate passing of Stan Lee yet the legal drama continues for his estate. A new report reveals that Lee's daughter is now taking action against his former company over intellectual properties.

In a report from The Hollywood Reporter, it was confirmed that J.C. Lee has filed a new lawsuit against POW! Entertainment, the company that Lee founded with Gill Champion and Arthur Lieberman. The company was founded back in 2001 and serves as a holding firm for Lee's intellectual properties since his exit from Marvel Comics.

This isn't the first time that a lawsuit has been filed against POW! Entertainment. A similar suit was filed back in 2018 but has been dropped due to some confusion as to who exactly was speaking on Lee's behalf. However, the new lawsuit is reportedly broader as it goes back to the time before POW! was founded.

An excerpt from the lawsuit reads as follows:

"By this lawsuit, Stan Lee's heir and Estate seek to perform the covenant Stan Lee made with his namesake company and remedy the wrongs inflicted by trusted business associates over the last two decades. It is intended to restore the rights he assigned to the namesake company he founded when he was liberated from a 60-year career with Marvel Comics, the comic book company he founded and creatively directed to become the preeminent Superhero entertainment company in the world."

It's disappointing to see that Lee's passing left a massive mess of things from a legal standpoint. We're hoping things will be settled as soon as possible so Stan the Man can truly rest in peace.

Lee passed away on November 12, 2018, at the age of 95.
