Stan Lee Wrote Several Doctor Strange Drafts, Read One of His Pages Here

Doctor Strange is a fan-favorite amongst the MCU faithful, with many loving the visuals and how it expanded on a new part of the cinematic universe. Many are expecting a sequel that will have Strange take on Baron Mordo, who lost his faith in magic and is now planning to rid it from the world. Before Marvel Studios became a thing, however, the comic publisher was trying to make a Doctor Strange movie and the late Stan Lee attempted to write scripts for it.

C. Robert Cargill, one of the co-writers for the MCU film, shared the extensive history of Marvel trying to make a movie based on the Sorcerer Supreme, even mentioning how the company had sold the license at one time. Lee, who was still semi-active during the 80's, wrote several drafts for the film and Cargill shared one page from a draft.

Lee also showed how awesome he was by turning down a writing credit, claiming that Cargill and his team of writers deserved the credit. Eventually, we got a good Doctor Strange movie but it took 30-plus years to make it. Frankly, it's amazing seeing how different Marvel was back then to how they are now.

Stan created Doctor Strange with Amazing Spider-Man co-creator Steve Ditko. The two characters are often linked together because of this since Ditko and Lee eventually had problems working together. At least we have these great characters from the legends.

Doctor Strange will return in Avengers 4, which comes out on May 3, 2019.
