DC Writer Reveals How He's Been Subtly Paying Tribute to Stan Lee

The death of Stan Lee has left the pop culture world devastated, though the creators that have been affected the most are from the comic book industry. Stan will always be known for making Marvel a top brand with artists like Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, John Romita, and so much more, but his focus on the flaws and humanity of heroes made the comic book world much better. It even made DC take a look at their characters and make them more human as well, which worked out for the best.

In a fairly interesting post on Twitter, Batman and Mister Miracle writer Tom King has shared how he has subtly been paying tribute to Lee whilst working for DC. As can be seen in the post below, King tried to make each of his issues have "DC Comics Presents,' which he says was a tribute to old Marvel comics that said, "Stan Lee Presents." King said he brought this up to Stan, who appreciated it but told the writer to work for Marvel.

King has actually worked for Marvel before, working on The Vision, one of Marvel's best comic books in recent memory. The series lasted for 12 issues before King signed an exclusive deal with DC Comics, though it did have a fairly satisfying ending. A sequel from Chelsea Cain was being made but was recently canceled for unknown reasons.

He might be a part of the "Direct Competition," but it is nice seeing King pay tribute to Stan "The Man" Lee. Sure, his style might be a bit darker than Lee's ever was but we wouldn't have these kinds of stories if Stan didn't make these heroes more human.
