Confirmed: Stan Lee will Appear in Avengers 4, but NOT in Dark Phoenix

The world is currently mourning the loss of Marvel co-founder Stan Lee, and one big question going around is, "are we still going to see him make cameos in Marvel films?" As it turns out, Lee has shot a bunch of cameos already, and it's very likely that we'll see him in Avengers 4.

This was confirmed by the Russo Brothers in a talk with BBC Radio Scotland (via MCU Cosmic). They explained:

"So, Stan, typically we try to get him out – he doesn't love to fly – so we try to get him out for his cameos around the same time…"

So if we have other movies shooting on the same lot that we're on, for instance, Ant-Man 2 or Avengers 4, we group his cameos together and then move him from one set to the next and kind of get him through his cameos in one day."

Though Lee's cameos are more popular with the MCU crowd, he has also made appearances in non-MCU franchises like Sony's Spider-Man films as well as Fox's X-Men franchise. However, it's been confirmed by EW that Lee won't be making an appearance in next year's Dark Phoenix. As of now, Lee's last appearance in that franchise is in the teaser for Deadpool 2 (if that counts); he was in the first Deadpool, but his last X-Men film was The Last Stand where he appeared with his wife Joan.

Knowing how Hollywood technology has now been able to bring people back from the dead, some fans are actually hoping that Marvel Studios did a scan of Lee so they can just digitally recreate him and insert him in future films. While I imagine that some people may not like the idea, I like the thought that Lee would live on in the MCU forever.

Plus, if he gave his permission, why not?

Avengers 4 hits theaters May 3, 2019.
