Squid Game is not yet done in bringing home trophies and recognitions months after the series became a gamechanger.

Netflix saw a spike in its monthly views again soon after Squid Game arrived on Sep. 17, 2021. It became the streaming giant’s most-watched series at that time, scoring the top spots in 94 countries and having 1.65 billion viewing hours during its first four weeks.

The series’ storyline surely played a huge role in making it a hit, as it offered hair-raising scenes featuring 456 players who are in financial debt and desperate to win the game’s grand prize.

Before its second season arrives to explain the game’s origin, Squid Game enjoys the attention it gets from fans even after it lost the most-watched title on Netflix already.

Squid Game is the Most Favorite Korean Drama in 2021

The Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and the Korean Foundation for International Cultural Exchange conducted a survey to determine the Hallyu trends last year. The result saw Squid Game as the Most Popular Korean Drama, beating several award-winning TV series by A-list celebrities.

According to The Korea Times, 8,500 from 18 countries – Thailand, the US, Brazil, and France, among others – participated in the survey. Hwang Dong-Hyuk’s masterpiece left another great impression and scored 21.2 percent from the audience.
