Spy x Family Singer Gen Hoshino Tests Positive for COVID-19

Gen Hoshino is taking a break after being diagnosed with COVID-19. The Spy x Family singer has tested positive for COVID-19 and will need to postpone all activities while he recuperates.

The diagnosis was confirmed by the official Gen Hoshino website where his staff released a statement. On Wednesday, July 27, it was announced that the singer has been diagnosed with COVID-19. According to the statement, Hoshino had taken his temperature and an antigen test and got a negative result prior to the broadcast of his show Gen Hoshino All Night Nippon on Tuesday at midnight.

After the show, Hoshino reportedly complained that he was feeling uncomfortable physically and confirmed that he had a slight fever. The musician then took a PCR test on Wednesday and tested positive for COVID-19. It was revealed that his wife Yui Aragaki had tested negative.

Gen Hoshino is currently recovering under the guidance of the health center. Since he is taking a break, all of his upcoming activities will be postponed until further notice.

"In the future, we will try to recover our physical condition according to the instructions of the health center and medical institution. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and concern caused to all concerned parties. In the future, Gen Hoshino and all the staff will continue to make further efforts to prevent infection," the statement reads.

Gen Hoshino performed the Spy x Family closing theme Comedy ("Kigeki") for the anime's first season. The song also appeared on Fortnite's Soundwave Series and had peaked at number four on Japan Hot 100 and number 127 on Billboard Global 200.

It is still unclear whether Hoshino will be back to perform any of the new themes for Spy x Family Season 2. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
