Based on the hugely popular action-comedy manga, Spy x Family is getting a long-awaited anime adaptation later this year! To help you get hyped for this release, we’ve compiled all the news on Spy x Family’s release date, studio, where to watch, trailer and everything you need to know!

What is Spy x Family About?

Set in the western-styled world of Westalis, the story follows Twilight, the country’s most trusted and successful spy. His latest mission is to infiltrate a prestigious school, for which he’ll need to create a fake family.

He adopts a young girl from an orphanage and woos an unassuming office worker to play the role of wife and daughter. However, it turns out that the seemingly innocent woman is actually a notorious assassin in disguise for her own work. Also, their ‘daughter’ turns out to be telepathic and can read both their thoughts.

Not only is Twilight thrust into the complicated world of family life, but in a fake family full of dark secrets, danger is never too far away, and ‘family’ might be more important than ever.

It is reported that Spy x Family will be airing in Japan on TV Tokyo and connected channels. For global viewers, you will be able to watch Spy x Family on Crunchyroll in most regions.

Due to the Crunchyroll and Funimation merger, Spy x Family will be unavailable on Funimation.

On Crunchyroll, we would expect episodes to be available as part of their simulcast service, which is usually one hour after they air in Japan.

Crunchyroll is no longer streaming new series for free. The first three episodes of Spy x Family will be available for one week for free with ads, but to watch the whole series, you will need a paid subscription.

Spy x Family will also be available through Muse Asia for viewers in South and Southeast Asia outside of Japan. The series will also be available on Netflix in some Asian regions.

There has been no official news yet regarding an English dub for the series. However, given how many of Crunchyroll’s biggest series eventually get an English-speaking release, we would expect the same for Spy x Family.
