Ahead of episode 13’s release this weekend, Spy x Family released its creditless second opening along with information on its specific release time outside Japan.

The new opening features the song SOUVENIR by the Japanese rock band Bump of Chicken, and it was uploaded on the official TOHO animation YouTube channel.

Unlike the first opening, this one features an animation style that’s closer to the show’s overall look.

Instead of being the start of season 2, Spy x Family Episode 13 is considered the second half of season 1 as the show has a split-cour release schedule.

Most anime fans have probably already seen Spy x Family when it aired earlier this year, but in case you’re unfamiliar, the series is an anime by Wit Studio and CloverWorks that’s based on the manga of the same name by Tatsuya Endo.

The series follows Twilight, a Westalian spy who is tasked by the government to prevent a war between Westalis and neighboring country Ostania.

As part of his undercover mission, Twilight takes on the alias of Loid Forger, adopts the orphan Anya, and marries city hall clerk Yor Briar.

Unbeknownst to him, Yor Briar is secretly a deadly assassin codenamed Thorn Princess. Meanwhile, Anya is a telepath, and she is the only one aware of their fake family.

The anime was one of the biggest hits of the Spring 2022 anime season. Though the manga is also a big hit as the series has over 25 million copies in circulation as of August 2022.

While the first opening featured highly stylized animation, this second opening features moments that look more like actual scenes from the anime. Of course, there are still some parts of it where the visual style is more pronounced.

Spy x Family Episode 13 will air in Japan on October 1 at 11 PM JST on 6 TV Tokyo stations. Following its airing, the episode will be released on various streaming platforms in Japan.

Meanwhile, the show will be released on October 1 at 8:30 AM PT / 11:30 AM ET on Crunchyroll in several regions, including North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, and CIS.
