Spy x Family has been renewed for a third season, which is no surprise given how popular the anime is. The question is what the Spy x Family season 3 release date will be.
While the third season is now in the works, the announcement only came with a teaser visual featuring Anya and Bond, with no other details shared.
Given the timing of the reveal, we can predict a potential release date window for the long-awaited third season.
Spy x Family Season 3 Release Date Predictions
It has been nearly half a year since the second season ended, and finally, Spy x Family season 3 was confirmed with a new Anya and Bond visual.
While it’s a cute image, it doesn’t reveal much about the third season. Given this, it’s likely that the new season is still early into production.
The show’s previous studios CloverWorks (of Bocchi the Rock! fame) and Wit Studio (Suicide Squad Isekai) are likely set to return, as the last two seasons and the Code: White movie were produced by them.
As there’s no trailer for the anime yet, we likely won’t see the show get released this year. What’s likely is that the new season will premiere in mid-2025.
Its second season was announced in December 2022, and it took almost a year for it to be released. As such, the third season is likely to be released in spring or summer 2025.
Spy x Family Is in Danger of Catching up to the Manga
There’s also no word on how long the new season will be, but it’s likely going to be a one-cour show like season 2. After all, the anime may potentially catch up to the manga soon.
As the Spy x Family manga has a bi-weekly release schedule, only around 20 or so chapters are released every year.
Given that only 40 chapters remain in the manga that haven’t been covered in the anime, there isn’t enough material for a two-cour season.
Still, even if there’s only one cour, a fourth season may potentially catch up to the manga. This would mean fans will need to wait possibly years for the anime to get new episodes.
Season 3 Will Potentially Cover Three Arcs
Season 2 covered the fan-favorite Cruise Adventure arc. As for season 3, it will likely adapt the WISE and Friendship Schemes arcs, which are fairly short.
Then, the meat of the third season will likely be about the Red Circus arc, which sees Anya in another predicament.
There are probably not enough episodes to cover the Mole Hunt arc, though that will depend on the third season’s pace.
