Director Scott Derrickson was originally the one who'll be helming the Doctor Strange Sequel but left due to creative differences. While his exit from the project has only been recent, it looks like a new director might already take his place.
According to Variety, Sam Raimi, known for his work on Sony's original Spider-Man film trilogy, is in talks with Marvel Studios to direct Doctor Strange 2. And as stated before, Derrickson would still remain as the film's executive producer.
Raimi is also known for creating the iconic Evil Dead franchise and his most recent feature film is the Oz the Great and Powerful. Although it was released back in 2013, Raimi has been active through producing and directing some TV episodes.
He isn't set to be the sequel director yet, but given his work of superhero blockbusters, it looks like Marvel fans would be excited to see his take on the hero.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is said to tie in with theWandaVisionseries. In addition, there have been multiple reports of rumored character appearances in the film, including Clea and Brother Voodoo. However, it isn't clear whether these claims will still be apparent once another director is set for the sequel.
