Spider-Man Star Kirsten Dunst Addresses Whether She Wants to Play Mary Jane Watson Again

We all know now that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield and the villains from their respective films made their comeback in Spider-Man: No Way Home which was celebrated by fans and contributed to the huge success that the film has gotten at the box office. As a result, a lot of fans are now demanding for Sony to continue their iterations of Spider-Man and it looks like one of Maguire's co-stars is interested to continue the journey as well.

Speaking with People Magazine, Kirsten Dunst, who played Mary Jane Watson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy, was asked if she has already seen the film yet. "I haven’t. I’m sorry! I know I have to," she answered. "I know Tobey’s in it and it’s such a huge surprise and everyone’s freaking out. I will. I’ll eventually watch it. You know, I’ll watch it with my son, because he’s starting to get into Spider-Man stuff. There’s, like, a little-kid version of Spider-Man that he watches, so maybe he’ll watch it with me."

The actress also reflected back on playing Mary Jane Watson and how it impacted her career. She said, "It's such a cool legacy to be a part of, and to be the first one and be a Spider-Man fan. I feel like that's a really special thing because these fans have lived with these movies for so long and have grown up with it. It's legacy things that feel really exciting. It's nice to be excited about something. All of us are dealing with so much right now."

"It's nice to have people want to go to the movie theater and see something that really makes their heart happy," she added. "I saw a reaction video [from a No Way Home screening] that someone sent me and I was like, 'Oh my God!' People really needed this right now — more than ever."

When asked if she would love to play Mary Jane Watson again, Dunst responded, "Of course I would. Of course. I’ve been asked about that a few times. That’s a no-brainer. That was a huge part of my career and my life."

With fans currently petitioning for Sony to make a fourth Spider-Man film with Tobey Maguire, it is great to hear that Dunst would be interested to return as Mary Jane Watson if she ever gets asked to. Right now, it is unlikely that Sony will do another film with Maguire since the actor might not be interested to play Spider-Man again in a solo film but at least we know that Mary Jane herself will be on board.
