Andrew Garfield Reveals He Lied to Emma Stone About His Spider-Man: No Way Home Involvement

Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire made their triumphant return in Spider-Man: No Way Home which was kept secret for months by the people involved in the film prior to the release. As we all remember, Garfield continuously denied his involvement in several interviews before the film was finally shown to the public. But as it turns out, he even lied to his former co-star (and ex-girlfriend) from The Amazing Spider-Man.

In a recent interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Garfield revealed that he even lied to Emma Stone, who played Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man films and also his ex-girlfriend, about his involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home. He also shared her reaction when she found out the truth during the film's release.

He said, "Emma kept on texting me and was like, 'Are you in this new Spider-Man film?' and I was like, 'I don't know what you're talking about.' [Laughs] She was like, 'Shut up, just tell me.' I was like, 'I honestly don't know,' I couldn't even tell her, it was hilarious. And then she saw it and was like, 'You're a jerk.' I didn't want to tell anyone, I took it super seriously, I told no one."

It is funny to hear that Garfield also lied to Stone about his involvement in the film given that Gwen Stacy was heavily referenced in one of the pivotal moments. It just shows how Garfield and the team at Marvel and Sony were really committed to keeping everything a secret even to someone like Stone, who you would think would have known it since she was one of the key people involved in The Amazing Spider-Man films and her character was mentioned. It's also interesting to hear that Garfield and Stone are also still in communication years after they broke up.

Now, we all know the secret that they've been hiding from us for a year and we can pretty much say that we're glad that Garfield and Maguire did show up in the film, a return that fans worldwide celebrated.
