Spider-Man PS4's Difficulty Settings Are Not-So-Subtle Easter Eggs

Insomniac's Spider-Man PS4 game is officially one month away and pretty much everyone is excited about it. Whether it be a hardened PS4 player or a comic book fan, there is a lot of hype for this open-world superhero game and every preview we've seen thus far make it look excellent. Even though the gameplay is the most important part, there will be a lot of easter eggs for comic book fans, from Avengers Tower to the various costumes Peter Parker will be able to make.

Turns out there are also some not-so-subtle easter eggs for fans when they boot up the game. Like all modern titles, players will have to choose what kind of difficulty they will want to play through, usually divided into Easy, Normal, and Hard. Insomniac decided to switch it up a bit by naming the difficulties, Friendly Neighborhood (Easy), Amazing (Normal), and Spectacular (Hard).

Fans of the comics know that all of those were titles used for various Spider-Man comics. Amazing Spider-Man is the most commonly known and spun-off from the failed Amazing Fantasy series that introduced the character. Spectacular Spider-Man was the hero's second book, though it was also used for the character's black and white magazine specials. Friendly Neighborhood might be Peter's catchphrase but it was also a short-lived comic Peter David wrote that detailed the character's pro-registration exploits.

These are minor easter eggs, to say the least, but it is nice seeing the developers go up and beyond for the fans. It seems like the game is going to be a success when it comes out and fans everywhere have plenty of reasons to be excited.

Spider-Man PS4 comes out on September 7.
