Spider-Man Noir TV Series Circling Nicolas Cage to Play the Lead Role
The Ankler has reported that Nicolas Cage is in "serious talks" to star in the Spider-Man Noir TV series.
If he ends up signing on to the project, the Oscar winner will reprise his role from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse where he first voiced the character. This time around, he will be playing him in live-action.
So far, neither Sony nor Cage's representatives have confirmed the actor's potential casting in the project.
Interestingly, a few months ago, Cage expressed his interest to star in a TV series as he plans to quit making movies in the near future.
"I am very interested in immersion streaming with episodic television. I have seen things that can be done now with characters and the time they’re given to express themselves," Cage told UPROXX.
"I saw Bryan Cranston stare at a suitcase for an hour on one episode of Breaking Bad. We don’t have time to do that in a feature film, so maybe television is the next best step for me. We’ll see."
Now, a Spider-Man Noir TV series could be Cage's first foray into television and it helps that he has voiced the character before so he has an idea of how he could play him when he stars in the live-action series.
It is interesting to see how it will all unfold as the negotiations are still ongoing and hopefully, we will able to get a confirmation soon enough on whether Cage is indeed starring in the new Spider-Man series.
