Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is an excellent animated film that fans of either the comics or the art of animation will enjoy. Marvel fans will love the numerous references to Sony's Spider-Man films, the comic books, and even the PS4 video game. Those that love animation will enjoy the unique usage of CGI that will make for one of the most visually interesting films of the year.
Now that the movie is showing, fans have been curious about the sequel, which was rumored to either focus solely on Miles Morales or have Gwen Stacy lead a band of Spider-Women. While both films could still happen, an interview Vanity Fair had with Amy Pascal (via ComicBook.com) revealed that a sequel will focus on the romance teased between Gwen and Miles during the film.
Here's what the article revealed about the possible sequel:
"...one of Pascal's favorites, Gwen Stacy, will lead the way. The producer revealed that Sony's upcoming Into the Spider-Verse sequel... will be focused on Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy—and will explore a romance between the two, a thread from Lord's original script that ultimately didn't fit in Into the Spider-Verse."
A romance between Miles and Gwen was teased early on but it wasn't the main focus of the film, which was understandable. After all, they were trying to save the world and that takes priority over sucking face. Thankfully, a sequel could focus on this more and would probably feel more natural.
