Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Responds To Lack Of Stan Lee And Steve Ditko Appreciation

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won the award for Best Animated Feature at the 91st Academy Awards this year, and while the win was celebrated by many Marvel fans around the globe, some where disappointed by the team's awarding speech. While the Into Spider-Verse team had three directors, two producers, and several crew members up on stage to take the award, no one managed to thank Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, the comic book creators of Spider-Man.

However, Into the Spider-Verse co-director Bob Persichetti claims that he actually planned on thanking the comic book writers. The only problem was that the Academy Awards production team had to cut the microphone feed so that they could move the event along.

Now, Into the Spider-Verse producer Chris Miller confirms this attempt, taking to Twitter to appease the angry fanbase.

"What @bob_persichetti was going to say on stage before the mic was cut off:
‘And finally thank you Stan Lee and Steve Ditko for inspiring all of this and believing we all have the capacity to be heroes,'" the producer wrote on his post.

This is good news for Marvel fans. Some were naturally angry because Lee passed away last year, and thanking him during the acceptance speech for Into the Spider-Verse would have been one of the greatest ways of honoring Stan the Man along with other comic book legend, Ditko.

Into the Spider-Verse heavily featured the many different Spider-Mans across different universes, so a little thank you to Lee and Ditko should have been in order.
