Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse Producer Says Sequel Is “Definitely” On The Way

It looks like Sony is more than eager to see Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse's sequel.

Sony producer Amy Pascal just recently spoke in an interview with i09 Gizmodo. During the discussion with the publication, the producer revealed that the studio is working hard on getting a follow-up to Into the Spider-Verse into production.

"We are definitely hard at work on the sequel," Pascal said, "You can expect another movie."

Sony's eagerness into putting out a follow-up to Into the Spider-Verse barely comes as a surprise. The computer animated superhero movie was nothing short of a commercial and critical success when it premiered last year.

With a production budget of $90 million, the film managed to rake in $190.2 million in North America and $185.3 million in other film markets to make a worldwide gross of $357.5 million. Into the Spider-Verse was loved by fans and critics alike, with most viewers appreciating the film for its striking animation style and for its "pure enjoyable adventure with heart, humor, and plenty of superhero action."

Not only that, but the film also won big at the Oscars, taking in the prize for Best Animated Feature during the 91st Academy Awards.

News about a sequel to Into the Spider-Verse started making the rounds when the film was originally released. A second film focused on Shameik Moore's Mile Morales was put into development last November. We can't be entirely sure what the sequel's story will entail, but we're looking forward to another multiverse romp.

Marvel's next Spider-Man movie, Far From Home, premieres July 2, 2019.
