After 18 reviews, Rotten Tomatoes has determined that Sony's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is a very fresh 100%, to the shock of many. We were all hoping it would be great, but seeing something as high as a 100% is not what everyone was expecting at all. This is very good news for Sony since the positive buzz could lead to a fruitful weekend for them.
Keep in mind that the score is only based on the first 18 reviews so more will likely come and make the score a bit lower. Teen Titans Go! To The Movies also debuted with a similarly high score but eventually moved down to the 90's or 80's, which is still fresh. Still, going down to those scores is far from a bad fate.
Because of all the positive buzz, reports have stated that Sony is already working on a number of spin-offs and sequels with the film's characters. Miles Morales, the main character, is slated to get a sequel devoted to his next adventure while Spider-Gwen aka Ghost Spider is going to lead an all-female group of Spider-people, or should we say, Spider-Women?
This will depend on the box office numbers and we can only hope it does well, given how great the animation looks. The trailers have also been pretty funny, with many enjoying the scene where Miles' dad tells him to say "I love you" with a police speaker.
Is Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse the best Spider-Man movie ever? We'll have to wait until December 13 to find out.
