Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 Has Officially Started Production

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was one of the best superhero movies ever made so we're more than pumped to see what the sequel will have in store for us. The post-credits sequence teased Miguel O'Hara, the Spider-Man of 2099, appearing in Into the Spider-Verse 2, along with the continuing adventures of Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy, all of which sound really promising. While no official details on the sequel have been shared, animator Nick Kondo has confirmed that he is already back to work on the next installment.

On Twitter, all Kondo said was "first day on the job," while also sharing the 2022 teaser of Into the Spider-Verse 2. This obviously means that he's working on the animated sequel, which we all have high hopes for. With no details given yet, it's a bit hard to speculate on what to expect, aside from Spider-Man 2099's involvement. The Japanese Spider-Man with his giant robot has also been teased so here's hoping that comes into fruition.

Honestly, they can do a lot with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 and it would probably turn out well if they manage to make a solid, easy to understand story like the first film. Even if it falters a bit, the animation alone should be enough to get praise from fans and critics alike. Who knows? Maybe this will lead to the heavily-reported all-female Spider-Verse film.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 will come to theaters on October 7, 2022.
