Spider-Man Homecoming Writer Teases Dungeons & Dragons Script

We got word last July that the Dungeons & Dragons movie was in development with writers Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, and though we haven't gotten any significant updates since then, Goldstein has decided to tease the script.

This was his post on Twitter:

Though the post only confirms that the duo will write the film, it also looks like they'll be handling directing duties as well. With the pair usually doing comedy/action films, it would be interesting to see what they have to bring with something like Dungeons & Dragons.

If anything, landing this gig could be huge for Daley and Goldstein. The pair had recently been attached to direct the Flash movie for WB, but after things went down, they ultimately left with Andy Muschietti (IT) helming the film about the Fastest Man Alive. Hopefully, the two are prepared to handle something like Dungeons & Dragons.

While I know that a lot of people want to delve into the serious lore of Dungeons & Dragons, I have a feeling that this movie will be kind of a metafilm, with the characters aware that they're playing a game. Maybe they get sucked into the world like Jumanji, but maybe Daley and Goldstein have something else in mind that's a little less predictable.

With a release date set for late 2021, it should probably be a while before we get a big update on this movie. Fingers crossed we get a teaser before the year ends.

Dungeons & Dragons is set to release on Nov. 19, 2021.
