Spider-Man: Homecoming Novel May Have Let Slip Details On Donald Glover’s Character

Marvel may have been busy building up the hype for Spider-Man: Homecoming by dropping a whole lot of TV spots and other promotional material, however it seems like the studio's still be keeping quiet about the role Donald Glover has in the highly anticipated movie. Though the Han Solo and Atlanta star was cast in Homecoming way back in June last year, the studio hasn't let out any info on the character Glover's playing.

However, it seems like the mystery's finally been uncovered with a Reddit user sharing a detailed synopsis of the novelization of Spider-Man: Homecoming. Talking about the opening act of the movie, fans get to learn that Michael Keaton's character Adrian Toomes and his guys played by Bookem Woodbine and Logan Marshall-Green actually manage to find alien Chitauri tech from the first Avengers' movie's Battle of New York. They then try to sell of the alien gadgets to Alex, the character played by Glover, only to be intercepted by Tom Holland's Spider-Man.

Here's the synopsis from the novelization:

At the party, while changing into Spider-Man, Peter sees an explosion in the distance and is forced to investigate. He finds two of Toomes' men, Shultz (Bookem Woodbine) and Brice (Logan Marshall-Green), selling Chitauri weapons to local criminal Alex (Donald Glover) and intervenes. Brice subdues Peter with his Shocker gauntlets and flees in a van with Shultz, leaving the weapon behind. Spider-Man pursues them, but is intercepted by the Vulture, who takes him high above swing-level, triggering the suit's defense system. It deploys a parachute to help Peter escape, but Peter falls into a lake and nearly drowns before being rescued by a remote-controlled Iron Man suit, due to a tracker that Stark put on the suit.

However, the name Alex doesn't really match the name Glover's character was given in the Homecoming Disney Channel special. In the BTS preview, Glover was named Aaron David, however this synopsis refers to him as Alex. Could it be a street name? We'll have to wait and see.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits cinemas on July 7, 2017.
