Spider-Man Homecoming: Angourie Rice Is Playing Another Peter Parker Love Interest

Mary Jane Watson and Gwen Stacy are Spider-Man love interests that have already been explored in previous movies, and Spider-Man: Homecoming seeks to introduce us to Liz Allan played by Laura Harrier. What we didn't know is that there's a second potential love interest for Peter in the movie, and she's played by The Nice Guys' Angourie Rice.

According to ComicBookMovie, Rice will be playing Betty Brant, one of Peter Parker's earliest love interests in the comics. Like Peter, she works for the Daily Bugle, and I'm expecting that in the movie she'll be involved with the school paper or something.

What some of you may not know is that Betty Brant was already showcased in the Raimi Spider-Man movies, played by Elizabeth Banks. Though she doesn't really play Peter's love interest, she does a good job in being J. Jonah Jameson's secretary. Peter did start hitting on her in Spider-Man 3 though.

When it was reported that Rice would be part of the cast, the go-to character that everyone thought she would be playing was Gwen Stacy. Seeing that Peter actually had a string of different love interests in the comics — including Black Cat — I'm interested to see where Marvel Studios is going with these characters.

Spider-Man: Homecoming hits theaters July 7.
