Spider-Man: Freshman Year Reportedly Not Bringing Back Tom Holland

Last year, Marvel Studios announced that they are working on the animated series Spider-Man: Freshman Year which will center on Peter Parker's journey in the MCU before his introduction in Captain America: Civil War and his subsequent trilogy. Since then, we haven't heard any news about whether Tom Holland will reprise the role in the series and now it looks like we have the answer.

According to The Illuminerdi, Holland is not expected to reprise the role of Peter Parker in Spider-Man: Freshman Year. It is unknown yet if the other cast members from the live-action Spider-Man films will also return in the series. However, the news has not been confirmed by Marvel Studios nor reported by the major trades so we have to at least take it with a grain of salt.

It is not surprising to hear that Holland may not voice his iconic role in the series considering that he didn't reprise the role either when Spider-Man appeared in an episode of What If...? The character was instead voiced by Hudson Thames, who may possibly reprise the role in Freshman Year.

You can also add to the fact that Holland has reportedly not signed a deal yet to reprise the role in a new set of films after No Way Home which also adds to the likelihood that he won't be reprising the role in the animated series and legitimacy to the outlet's report.

Luckily, we might hear more official updates about the project this Friday when Marvel Studios is set to have their animation panel and expected to make some announcements regarding their animated projects.

The series "follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming Spider-Man in the MCU, with a journey unlike we've ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots." Jeff Trammell serves as the head writer and executive producer.
