There was never any doubt that Spider-Man: No Way Home would be able to live up to its hype and surpass all of the fans' expectations. The Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster had everything any webhead would want in a Spidey flick — action, emotion, and a whole lotta fan service. However, despite the massive impact it created not only in the comic book movie genre but in film in general, one actor was a bit skeptical about it.

Marvel actor Benedict Cumberbatch recently sat down with Empire to discuss the upcoming Phase 4 offering Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and revealed his doubts about Spider-Man: No Way Home changing the game. Admittedly, the English actor mocked Kevin Feige's statement about the film becoming a determining factor in how moviegoers will enjoy cinema moving forward.

He shares: "I think when Kevin Feige first said, 'We'll know about the future of cinema, or the cinemagoing experience, after this film,' I was like, 'Okay, everyone's drinking too much of the Kool-Aid around here. My ignorance was showed up."

Well, turns out even the Sorcerer Supreme's judgment can be clouded at times. Now, with the success of No Way Home, it'll be interesting to see if Marvel still has tricks up its sleeve because frankly, a film that served as a massive celebration of all three Spider-Man films from three different decades is something that will be hard to top.

Meanwhile, Benedict Cumberbatch is set to make his MCU return in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, hitting cinemas on May 6, 2022.
