It's been rumored for months that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will mark the live-action debut of the Illuminati and judging by the trailer Marvel Studios dropped during Super Bowl LV, it's quite evident that Kevin Feige and company are no longer trying to hide the group's involvement in the upcoming Phase 4 offering.

So far, Professor X seems to be the only hero confirmed to be part of the MCU's iteration of the Illuminati but other names such as Superior Iron Man and Mister Fantastic have allegedly been spotted in the trailer as well.

Now, according to a new scoop from Screen Geek, Anson Mount, the actor who starred in ABC's forgotten Marvel series Inhumans is making a cameo appearance in Doctor Strange 2 to reprise his Marvel TV role as Blackagar Boltagon aka Black Bolt.

Bolt is one of the founders of the Illuminati in the comics and given the fact that the film will feature the secret society of Marvel heroes, it would make a ton of sense for him to be involved. As it stands, nothing has been officially confirmed yet but Black Bolt being part of the MCU's version of the Illuminati sounds like a no-brainer at this point.

Of course, this move is actually convenient on the studio's part because it saves them the hassle of casting a different actor for the part. However, considering not a lot of people were able to follow Inhumans, it would be interesting to see if casual moviegoers will actually recognize Anson or even know who Black Bolt is.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits cinemas on May 6, 2022.
