Spider-Man Animated Movie Adds Miles Morales’s Dad & Uncle

Miles Morales's relatives have finally been cast for the animated Spider-Man movie featuring this particular Spidey.

Tracking Board broke the news, announcing the two additional cast members. Miles's father, detective Jefferson Davis, will be voiced by Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta), while Mahershala Ali will voice his uncle Aaron Davis. This will add to the story, since his uncle is on the bad side of the law, which could clash heavily with Spider-Man's role as responsible hero.

Henry and Ali will join Shameik Moore and Live Schreiber, who have both been signed up for the movie. The latter is our very own Miles, while Schreiber will voice the still-unnamed villain.

The animated Spider-Man movie involves Phil Lord and Chris Miller, both of whom were previously working on the also untitled Han Solo spin-off movie. The movie is currently under the direction of The Little Prince's Bob Persichetti and Rise of the Guardians' Peter Ramsey.

This project has already been in the works for a while. Miles Morales's Spider-Man was created by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli as a half-black and half-Latino Spider-Man who takes up the webslinger's costume after Peter Parker dies. His popularity shot up among fans so fast, that he became a bigger character afterwards.

Spider-Man the animated movie will be out in theaters on Dec. 21.
