Sony is shifting its focus for the Spider-Man franchise with its next animated film. Instead of having Peter Parker as the titular Spider-Man, the hero will be Miles Morales, a fan favorite since his appearance back in 2011.
Now, the animated film has finally cast its Spider-Man and villain. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shameik Moore, known for his role in Dope and The Get Down, has signed on to voice the half-black and half Latino web-slinger.
In addition, Liev Schreiber has also been cast as the film's main villain. Until now, it has not yet been revealed who Miles will be facing off in the film. All that is known about the still untitled Spider-Man animated film from Sony is that Morales will be at the height of balancing his school and superhero lives.
Phil Lord is tasked to write the project, and produce it with Chris Miller who is onboard as producer. Bob Persichetti will be co-directing the movie with Peter Ramsey.
This animated film will be Miles Morales's next outing after his appearance I Ultimate Spider-Man inn Disney XD. The character was first introduced in 2011 by Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli in the Ultimate Marvel tales set in an alternate story universe.
